“eh, seal it with some filler and it’ll be fine”

I’m a complete noob and the stainless tip i welded on friend’s Citroen Saxo looks way nicer, AND is airtight compared to that...

I got a good one for ya, the dude who half assed the exhaust on my car didn't run it far enough to reach the rear hangers, so he welded a loop to the mufflers, and flipped the rear seat belt bolt to come from the underside of the car instead.

Well, you had two pieces that mated up perfectly. We’re practically making sections of pipe out of nothing but weld. I just need to go around and fill in the rest of the gaps and it’ll be plenty airtight.

Isn’t these just tacked together to get the general shape tho? I did not have 2 pieces that mates perfectly either, and will admit to having to fill a little burn through hole with more weld before i found out to just weld ontop of the stop muffler weld. Speaking of, i really should have my dad teach me proper welding stuff...

Yeah, pretty much at this stage it’s all tacked together and still needs filled, but... there’s nothing pretty or well-done about this. Varying diameters of pipe, different metalluriges, etc. since it’s all scrap.

Proof of concept/temporary i assume then, instead of blowing the cash for fresh bends/tubing?

It’s only temporary if it doesn’t work.
